KAP's Recommendation

Codifying the right to repair for farm machinery through provincial and federal legislation.

KAP supports right to repair legislation that would allow increased flexibility and freedom when it comes to repairing their own farm equipment.

    • Due to the nature of farming, sometimes the weather dictates very narrow windows for completing work in the field. When a piece of machinery is out of order, it can reduce or entirely prevent a farmer from continuing to do their work.

    • Farmers may lack 3rd party repair options due to their machines being protected under encrypted software by equipment manufacturers.
